Instructional Labs

The Instructional Lab staff support the faculty teaching lab classes. Lab classes promote student learning through safe, hands-on practice in experimental biology. The School offers a number of lab courses in Tata and York Halls throughout the academic year and summer session. These labs house cutting-edge equipment and technology to support a wide range of experimental activities.

We assist with...

  • Purchasing materials and equipment for lab classes
  • Preparing solutions and reagents for student use
  • Maintain and care for stocks of microorganisms, plants, and other biological specimens
  • Troubleshooting issues with equipment and experiments
  • Maintaining a clean and safe instructional lab environment
  • Proper disposal of waste according to campus regulations
  • Projecting future demand for lab classes
  • Scheduling lab classes
  • Setting appropriate course materials fees
